Page tours and How LabFlow works
LabFlow carries two guides of its own. A page tour explains the page you are on. How LabFlow works explains the product as a whole, one screen at a time.
Page tours
Eight pages have a tour: the home page, the dashboard, Patients, Orders, Specimens, Results, Settings and Pricing.
- The button. Take a tour of this page sits directly before the theme control in the top bar, in the same place on every one of those pages.
- The hint. The first time you open a toured page, a quiet hint says New here? Take a quick tour of this page. with Show me and Dismiss. It appears once for each page — once on this device, and once for your account, so a second device does not ask again.
- The steps. Each step lifts one part of the page and says what it is for, as Step n of total. Next and Back move through it; All steps jumps to any step; Skip tour or the close button ends it at any point, as does Escape. The arrow keys move between steps.
- On a phone the step comes up as a sheet from the bottom of the screen, or from the top when the part it describes is low on the screen, so it never covers what it is explaining.
- Every step has an address.
?tour=3opens the page's tour at step 3, so a step can be linked to directly.
The tour on the home page, for example, follows a specimen from specimen to signed result: six links — patient, order, specimen, test, result and report — and a reference range that is a function, not a column.
How LabFlow works
How LabFlow works is a public page, reachable signed out, in six steps, each with a real screen and three short points:
- Register a patient — a patient is a person, not a visit: one record each.
- Take an order — orders come from your own staff or from a connected system.
- Accession the specimen — scan or accession each tube as it arrives.
- Enter and release the result — auto-validation suggests. A person releases.
- See what is waiting — what is waiting and what is late, at a glance.
- Choose a plan — start on the free plan, and pay by card when your laboratory needs more.
?step=4 opens it at step 4. The arrow keys and, on a phone, a swipe move between steps.
